Welcome to my guide to the best Vermont inn + lodge wedding venues, where I’m letting you in on the most beautiful places to host your destination wedding!

But before you start your search for the perfect venue, it’s important to know what you’re looking for, and what to pay attention to along the way. As an experienced (and local!) Vermont wedding photographer, I’ve seen it all—sooo I’ve gathered my top tips for finding the right venue below to make your life easier.

Key Things to Consider When Choosing a Vermont Inn/Lodge Wedding Venue

Accessibility

If you’re planning a destination wedding with guests coming from out of state, the first thing you need to consider is how accessible your venue is. How far of a drive is it from the closest airport? Is it easy to get to? Will folks need to rent cars, carpool, will we need to hire transportation for everyone, etc. This is especially important to think about in the winter, when snow could impact conditions and potentially travel. And on a more micro level, does the venue itself fit you + your guests’ physical accessibility needs?

Indoor & outdoor options

Speaking of getting married in the winter, year-round venues are a NECESSITY if you’re tying the knot in Vermont’s colder months. Make sure that the venue you choose has either an indoor backup option for unpredictable spring/fall weather, or at least one, full-fledged indoor venue for winter days. All of the venues I’ve included in this list have at least one indoor venue option such as a ballroom, a main lodge area, or a reception hall, as well as outdoor spaces for the rest of the seasons. Cozy, cold-weather celebrations can be so magical, as long as you’re well-prepared!

Accommodations

I’m assuming that you’re envisioning a multi-day wedding with an overnight stay, since you came here looking for inn + lodge wedding venues in Vermont. . . so accommodations will be a must for you. More than that, though, pay attention to how many guests your venue of choice can accommodate, and whether or not they offer any discounted group rates that you can take advantage of. Staying on the same property as your guests is such an incredible way to get quality time together and build lasting memories over the span of more than just a 12-hour wedding day—10/10 recommend.

Activities, amenities, & excursions

While we’re on the topic of multi-day weddings, it might be important to you to find a venue that offers other activities and amenities to use before and after the big day! This might be as simple as on-site breakfast that you can enjoy every morning, so you don’t have to leave the property, or it could mean you have plenty of fun ways to fill your itinerary such as outdoor rec excursions, horseback rides, swimming pools, golf courses, lawn games, spa services. . . the works.

Privacy

If you’d like to get married at an inn or lodge in private, with no other guests around to bother your party, you’ll want to choose a venue that offers a full property buyout. This way, you’re never interrupted—and you never have to worry about interrupting anyone else’s stay! Enjoy this meaningful time alllll to yourselves.

Dining

Venues with in-house dining and catering/bartending teams are the BEST, because it means one less thing you have to think about + one less errand to run every day. No need to worry about providing your guests with food if you pick a venue that offers, say, complimentary breakfasts, an in-house catering team and bartending staff, a wedding cake, welcome meals/rehearsal dinners/send-off brunches, etc.

Package inclusions

Finally, be sure to pay close attention to what’s included in the venue packages. It can be confusing to read through package info sometimes, as every venue (and vendor!) structures them differently—but here are a few key things to look at:

  • Guest capacity
  • Accommodations (included or additional fee?)
  • Setup and breakdown
  • Use of property/venue spaces
  • Food/drinks
  • Decor
  • Equipment/rentals
  • Other vendors they’ll help coordinate

And with that, let’s move onto these venues that I am SO stoked to share with you!

9 Best Vermont Inn + Lodge Wedding Venues

1. Hill Farm Inn | Sunderland, VT

Just 10 minutes from Manchester lies this lovely little inn amidst the hills—aptly named Hill Farm Inn, of course. This inn + farm embody Vermont at its finest: breathtaking views of the Green Mountains, walking trails, farm-fresh breakfasts, gardens to get your hands dirty in, and even opportunities to go fly fishing on the Battenkil River! Oh, and did I mention the pool? And the fitness room? And the pub. . . and the game room. . . and the farm with ALPACAS?! Yes, seriously—you can get up close and personal with the farm’s three alpacas, plus their two barn cats, Tiger & Maple (the cutest).

Talk about the dream way to spend your wedding weekend: wandering through Vermont’s beautiful landscapes, dipping your toes in the water, petting the soft fur of animals, and enjoying seasonal flavors from farm-to-table menus. And with a variety of inviting accommodations—including the historic Hill Farm Inn itself, as well as multiple private cottages, a Farm House, and a River House—you and your guests won’t even have to leave the property to enjoy everything that this idyllic area of Vermont has to offer.

Inquire with Hill Farm Inn about your wedding here to find out what they have to offer!

2. Von Trapp Family Lodge | Stowe, VT

I will always and forever recommend Von Trapp Family Lodge for ANY type of wedding, elopement, or even family photoshoot, because it’s just that great. This Austrian-inspired, 2,600-acre lodge and resort overlooks New England Village, and is available for weddings year-round. Which is a pretty big bonus for weddings in Vermont, because you would NOT want to tie the knot outdoors in the cold, snowy winter months!

Surrounded by panoramic mountain views, the lodge has both indoor and outdoor options to choose from, all of which are equally as cozy, charming, and magical. From mid-May through mgid-October, receptions are held underneath the seasonal tent, or under the night sky on the Mozart Patio, and ceremonies in either the Concert Meadow or the Wedding Meadow. You’ll def want to sneak out of your reception to hop over to the Croquet Lawn, which is oh-so-lush and surrounded by dreamy gardens that are perfect for portraits!

And in the colder months, you’ll head indoors to the Mozart Room for your reception underneath chandeliers, high ceilings, and next to a gorgeous open-hearth fireplace. If it’s warm enough, cocktail hour can be held right outside on the adjoining patio and lawn so you can toast your drinks beneath the stars.

You can request information about wedding packages and availability at Von Trapp Family Lodge here!

3. Edison Hill Inn | Stowe, VT

Picture this: it’s a warm, sunny summer day, and you’re getting ready to marry the love of your life. You’re surrounded by drool-worthy florals and vibrant green foliage, relaxing in your cozy room in a country manor, preparing for your ceremony amidst the lush landscapes of a 38-acre estate—totally secluded from the rest of the world. You and your love make things official on a gorgeous meadow, enjoy an open-air cocktail hour, and head to the upper meadow for your reception, where you share laughs, smiles, and stories as the sun goes down. And even better? You got to spend the day before (and maybe even the day after) exploring nearby walking trails, creating new memories with your fam + friends at your rehearsal dinner, and riding horses across spectacular scenery.

Sounds like a total dream come true, right? I’ve got good news for you: you can do all of that—and more—at Edison Hill Inn. It’s a quintessential Vermont wedding venue just minutes from Stowe (and a short drive from Stowe Mountain Resort), with totally private + picturesque scenery everywhere you look. Located on the property are multiple guest houses, the main Manor House, a dining room, and horse stables!

Edison Hill wedding packages include various venues for rehearsal dinners, ceremonies, receptions, and breakfasts/brunches, catering and bar packages, a dedicated on-site team, outdoor rec, event planning, and even an exclusive property buyout if you so choose. Reach out about their wedding packages here to see if Edison Hill is your perfect fit!

4. The Inn at Weathersfield | Perkinsville, VT

Where are all my micro wedding couples?! If you’re planning a celebration with fewer than 120 guests, and you’re looking for a historic home tucked in the woods of Vermont, the Inn at Weathersfield is calling your name. This boutique inn is a peaceful little hideaway nestled in the middle of a pine forest, offering the perfect blend of vintage charm and contemporary comfort; you’ll find a wide range of ornate Victorian furnishings, luxurious suites, antique decor, and elegant ambiance as you explore the 21-acre property.

Able to accommodate microweddings between 12-40 guests, or weddings of up to 120, the venue will handle your food, bar, setup and breakdown, servers, and all the equipment essentials, plus an indoor backup plan in case of bad weather. A total plus for couples who want to take that stress off their plates—and replace it with farm-to-table dishes that fill their plates in a much yummier way 😉

One thing I love about this venue is that you barely even need decor, because the woods are a beautiful backdrop on their own. Whether you celebrate at the hidden chapel in the woods or underneath the clear tent, the Inn at Weathersfield is a lovely place to say your “I do’s.” Oh, and don’t forget to plan extra time to explore the area (and take advantage of activities on the property itself), whether you plan time to hike, bike, kayak, ski, snowboard, snowshoe, or even take a sleigh ride in the winter!

5. The Inn at Round Barn Farm | Waitsfield, VT

I know I’ve already included a barn on this list, but have you ever seen a ROUND one?! Yes, a barn that is literally round in shape and stands out from the rest of the many Vermont farm venues. The Inn at Round Barn Farm is such a unique venue for weddings, originating as a dairy barn built in 1910 and now a 45-acre property offering gorgeous spaces for weddings of up to 200 people.

Surrounded by ponds, fields, meadows, and mountains, this rustic barn is a stunning place to get married (or celebrate your newlywed status) under warm candlelight, and all year-round, no less. If the weather allows, you’ll definitely want to stroll the grounds of Round Barn Farm and say hi to the cows, and embrace the romance of these classic Vermont landscapes!

The Inn at Round Barn Farm also has an amazing event planning team with over 30 years of experience, who will be there to help you every step of the way, as well as a professional in-house catering team. Menus are curated around the seasons and your personal preferences, and embrace farm-to-table cuisine that brings the essence of Vermont right to your plate.

If you’re intrigued by this charming farm and its unique round barn, you can reach out to the venue for all the details here.

6. Moose Meadow Lodge & Treehouse | Duxbury, VT

All you’ve gotta say is “treehouse in the woods” and I’m there. This Adirondack-style lodge in Waterbury is the upscale log cabin you’ve been dreaming of—just like that cabin you’ve had in the family for generations, but better. Located on 86 private, lush acres in the Green Mountains, the lodge is close enough to nearby attractions and ski resorts, but secluded enough to feel like your own woodland paradise. This feeling is taken to the next level when you climb up to your luxurious, two-person treehouse in the pines. . . forest glamping at its FINEST.

Moose Meadow Lodge specializes in elopements and micro weddings of up to 30 guests, providing generous Vermont hospitality to make sure you and your closest people are always taken care of. They’ll even help you with the marriage license application process to take a weight off your shoulders—which is SO helpful if you’re traveling from out of state for a destination celebration!

You’ve got two options to choose from when it comes to wedding packages at Moose Meadow Lodge: the Intimate Cabin package for elopements, and the Adirondack Plans for micro weddings. Both offer accommodations in the Main Lodge (plus the Treehouse if you need more space), use of multiple scenic sites throughout the venue, a custom ceremony by their provided officiant, and more! Elopement packages start at $1550 without the Treehouse added, and micro weddings at $4180.

7. The Pitcher Inn | Warren, VT

Let’s take all this rustic charm we’ve seen so far, and elevate it just a tad to the romantic, refined atmosphere of the Pitcher Inn. This luxury hotel and inn is situated in Vermont’s Mad River Valley, with easy access to some of the area’s best activities + excursions—such as kayaking spots on the Mad River, golfing at Sugarbush Resort, and skiing opportunities at Sugarbush as well as Mad River Glen.

The Pitcher Inn has everything you need to plan an unforgettable weekend celebration: an award-winning wine cellar, an in-house tavern where you can always grab a pint, farm-to-table dining, and even packages for rehearsal dinners + honeymoons if you’d like to stay in the area for longer. Venues include a lovely garden, a small chapel, various indoor rooms, and the inn itself, of course! Choose the ones that fit your unique day the most, or opt for a property buyout for exclusive use of ALL of it. The Pitcher Inn is available for weddings of up to 85 guests, year-round, from the crisp days of early spring to the snowy winter days where all you want is to cozy up in a warm, welcoming inn just like this.

8. 1824 House | Waitsfield, VT

The first thing you’ll read on this venue’s website is “Casual luxury in the heart of Vermont”—and honestly, I think that describes it perfectly! The 1824 House Inn + Barn welcome every visitor with warm, open arms, bringing you back to a time when things were simpler. . . when you could escape the tedium of daily life and spend your days roaming lush landscapes, admiring gardens, and cozied up by the riverside with the people you love. And honestly? The rolling hills of the Vermont countryside are somehow even MORE beautiful when experienced from a stunning venue like this.

Tie the knot on the grassy lawn overlooking the hills, host your meal in the rustic barn, and spend your nights in the luxurious accommodations offered at the inn. The 1824 House is an incredible setting not only for both micro and intimate weddings, but also for rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, and send-offs the morning after—meaning you can spend the WHOLE weekend celebrating with your guests, not just one day. We love a full weekend of festivities that ends with a delicious farewell!

9. Topnotch Resort | Stowe, VT

Last but absolutely not least, Topnotch Resort is, well. . . a top notch destination wedding venue in Stowe. It is in the name, after all! All jokes aside, this resort is a phenomenal place to tie the knot with loved ones from near and far, offering a tranquil, intentional place to slow down, settle in, and reconnect with one another—as well as with the natural beauty around you.

Becoming a mother transformed the way I see and photograph the world — with a slowed-down feel focused on the sensory story of a life well-lived and even-more-loved.

I photograph the loose curl, the soft thunder of little feet, the vows said through tears with your toes in the moss.

This is not curated perfection. This is memory made visible.

My style behind the lens: Whether I'm looking for bugs with your kiddos, snuggling your newborn while you change outfits, or exploring Vermont nature with you and your love, your session will feel fun, effortless, and like you're hanging with a friend.

My style behind the image: With a nod to classic film and a vibrant punch, my photography style is a little grainy, a little earthy, and always nostalgic.

My style behind the books: When I'm not taking your picture, I'm probably snuggled up with my dogs, my kiddo, and a spicy romantic fantasy novel (IYKYK).

It’s those small, familiar moments that you’ll want to remember when the toys
are packed away and the

the mess, the motion,

There’s something kind
